Understanding, Empowering, Advancing Together

Whether fleeing their homes and the hardships of refugee camps or uprooting their old lives for a chance for a better future, Houston's refugees and immigrants continue to face difficulties in their new lives, from learning English to securing jobs. CHAT's mission is to foster the health and healthcare access of our newest Houstonians through education and advocacy in their local communities. However, to continue empowering our clients, we need your support!

CHAT provides various programs, all geared towards improving the environment of Houston's refugee and immigrant communities, including:

- CHAT Academy, where volunteers tutor over 30 students from Monday to Friday
- English classes for over 15 women on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Girls' Club for Success, empowering 50 young girls weekly at Las Americas Newcomer School
- development of a clinic and health screenings to serve the local community
- workshops, from photography, art, STEM, to wellness!
- and many more!

Through this multifaceted approach, we aim to foster a culture of health. After we fully engage our newest neighbors, only then will we advance together.

Some things that have been said by our clients:

"My children and I used to spend so much time working on homework after school every day, but now that they have tutors to help them at CHAT, we finally have time at home to spend together as a family." - Mrs. Juarez

"After we had our reading camp, I felt more confident, and I went up two reading levels in school!" - Abbas, 4th grade

"I go to CHAT because of all the help they give and because the classes are fun and worth it!" - Aminata, 4th grade
